“These violent delights have violent ends, And in their triumph die like fire and powder, Which as they kiss consume.”

This expanded seminar will be presented in two parts:

Part 1: Shakespeare’s (S)words
When: September 13th
Time: 2:30 to 6:30pm
This first class will look at interpreting the violence of Shakespeare beginning with an introduction (or refresher course) on breaking down and reading the text. Then we will interpret the types of violent acts that can be extrapolated from the text. This will guide our performance options as we move into scene work for the participants (pre-cast) scenes.

Part 2: Performing Shakespeare’s Violence (Scene Study)
When:
September 20th
Time: 2:30 to 6:30pm
Participants will continue to use the information from the first class to expand their performance options and further develop their scenes. Ultimately students will present the scene to the class and show off what they’ve learned!
