Bone & Steel: Six Week Special Course

Whether on stage or in front of the camera, performing combat is a vital skill for an actor. With this new 6 week course you will hit the ground running by training in the TWO most used combat skills in New York film & theatre work: Unarmed & Sabre.

New Students will be introduced to and train in unarmed and sabre techniques individually. We will then bring these skills together in a short choreographed fight that will incorporate both.

Advanced Students (e.g. have trained with NYCSS in these skills) will review the fundamentals before working on an 80 move fight using unarmed & Sabre which requires a high level of partner work. This will also include acting/scene work to train the performance skills necessary for bringing characters to life in your fights.

Unarmed will learn fundamental skills such as:

• Punches
• Kicks
• Elbow
• Blocks/Parries
• Falls
• Hair Pulls
• Chokes

Sabre will learn fundamentals such as:

• Mollinelli
• Footwork
• Cuts
• Thrusts
• Parries

All of these skills will ultimately be applied to a choreographed fight!

Classes will be held from 10am to 1pm on Saturday mornings October 23rd to November 27th in Manhattan.
